Second Generation for Casca
October 2020 - March 2023
After 5 years of user testing, customer feedback and a global pandemic, we decided to move all sneaker production from China to Portugal. With Casca and SmartFit™, we introduced our community to custom-fit footwear. Wellness became a key part of our DNA, and producing in Portugal gave us an opportunity to take another big step.
The second generation of Casca sneakers was crafted with 95% of materials coming from the Iberian Peninsula, drastically reducing transportation emissions, the primary carbon footprint contributor for shoes. With LWG-Gold certified leathers, CO2-free microsuedes and linings, recycled insoles and knits and solar-powered production facilities, this was an eye-opening journey.
Aesthetically, a more ergonomic and iconic last shape was developed to highlight the brand’s “Wellness Footwear” mantra. The sole unit retains Casca’s signature heel kick and recessed tread, while the uppers were fine-tuned to reduce bulk and satisfy the stylistic preferences of a broader, unisex market.
