Apollo Rain for Native Shoes

Building on the success of the Apollo Moc, we brought its streamlined fit and athletic-inspired outsole styling back into Native’s moulded EVA offering. This was my first experience developing a fully moulded EVA upper, exposing the challenges with expansion, undercuts and mould release that designers must be conscious of when creating injection moulded designs.
The final design offers a modern adaptation of a Rubber boot. The design is fully waterproof, featuring a cleverly stitched-in elastic gusset capped with a rubber ‘binding’. Finished with a branded pull tab, riveted for durability andeasy on / off functionality. 7 years later, it’s still a Fall/Winter staple in Native’s offering.
